What We Believe

Biblical text

All that we believe is based upon the Bible - the Word of God...

We believe in one eternal God who exists in three persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We believe that all people are created by God in His image.

We believe that all people have sinned and have been estranged from God through their disobedience and their sinful nature.

We believe that Jesus, the Son of God, came to earth as a human being, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, was killed by crucifixion, was buried, rose again bodily, and returned to heaven.

We believe that through his life, death and resurrection, Jesus Christ has opened the way for all people to be forgiven and restored to fellowship with God.

We believe that the Holy Spirit enables people to turn from sin and receive forgiveness by faith in Jesus Christ.

We believe that baptism in the Holy Spirit is to be expected as a normal experience for all Christians and is the means by which we experience the power of God in our daily lives.

We believe that baptism by immersion in water is commanded by Jesus for all Christians, and is the means by which we may put to death the old life and rise up in the power of the resurrection.

We believe that the Holy Spirit lives in those who have faith in Jesus Christ, works in them to make them like Christ in their character, and equips and empowers them to serve God.

We believe that the Lord's Supper or Communion is given by Jesus as a way for Christians to remember Jesus and to express their fellowship with him and with one another. It is also a prophetic decleration and statement of faith that Jesus is coming again.

We believe that Jesus will return bodily to earth and the whole human race, both the living and the dead, will be judged.

We believe that there is one universal church, the body of Christ, to which all who have faith in Jesus belong.

We believe that the various ministries mentioned in Ephesians 4 - apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers - and various spiritual gifts given to every Christian, are essential in the church today, that the body of Christ may be strengthened, equipped for every good work, and eventually brought to complete unity and maturity.

All that we believe is based upon the Bible - Old and New Testaments - which we believe was inspired by God and which we accept as our supreme authority in all matters of Christian belief and conduct.

"With your heart you believe and are justified, and with your mouth you confess and are saved" (Romans 10.10).
