What We See

Kings Community Church, Lancaster

King's Community Church is shaped and underpinned by the vision God has given us...

The Bible makes it clear that vision is essential for fullness of life: “Where there is no vision, the people perish” (Prov 29:18a. KJV).  As Charles Swindoll puts it: “Vision is essential for survival. It is spawned by faith, sustained by hope, sparked by imagination and strengthened by enthusiasm. It is greater than sight, deeper than a dream, broader than an idea. Vision encompasses vast vistas outside the realm of the predictable, the safe, the expected. No wonder we perish without it!”

Our vision is:

  • to build a community based on the values and standards of the Kingdom of God which reflects His government, grace, glory and goodness;
  • to experience the presence and power of the Holy Spirit in our gatherings and in our lives;
  • to be a prophetic community and a loving community of worshipping, learning and serving disciples. To be a covenant people expressed through our relationship with Jesus Christ and with one another;
  • to pray for and to see revival in our nation; applying ourselves practically whenever and wherever possible to the ‘Great Commission’ given by Jesus. We have a ‘world mission’ as well as local mission in ‘Making Jesus Known';
  • to do good to the poor and needy as well as to the ‘household of faith.’

In order to work towards the above points, four distinct areas come to mind that also serve as useful evaluation tools.

1. The Body

The church is the body of Christ.  Our vision points towards its equipping, enabling and training; its love, care and concern for each other so that we “become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ” (Eph 4:13b. NIV).

2. Building Bridges

We desire to be involved in the community both in a corporate way and through our individual lives. “The entire law is summed up in a single command: love your neighbour as yourself” (Gal 5:14. NIV).

3. Branching Out

Branching out involves proclaiming and reaching out with the gospel, both in ‘word and witness’ or to put it another way, ‘lip and life.’  Matthew writes: "You are the light of the world.  A city on a hill cannot be hidden.  Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.  Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.  In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in Heaven” (Mat 5:14-16. NIV).

4. The Building

Our vision it to have a facility that honours God and is in daily use for the work of the Kingdom.
