Here are some questions answered about our church...

1. What kind of church is King’s Community Church?
We are a Bible believing church committed to a local and world mission.  We believe that all scripture is profitable for instruction.  We also believe in God’s continuing power to create and transform, in the grace and salvation of Jesus His son, and that the Holy Spirit is present and active in the lives of believers.  We hope that as many believers as possible join us in worship and in the general life of the church, but we are also committed to winning new souls for the kingdom of God.  Our website contains details of our meeting times and other important information about the church.  Please check it out and if you wish, leave a comment using the contact link.

2. Who Oversees King’s?
Ian Mclean and Chris Strahan serve as elders of the church.  Katy Allen and Rose Starkey serve as deacons functioning in their own particular ministry and gifting. Rose is our worship leader and Katy currently oversees the children/youth ministry. We also have a number of people supporting them in children’s work, youth work, home groups, stewarding and other ministries.

In King’s, we believe that we should bring Christ to our community and the world and believe we are called to be ‘salt and light’ where we live, work and where the church gathers.  Although we are a non-denominational church we are not independent.  On the contrary, we value the input and accountability that we have with our apostolic covering, it this that brings us into relationship with a number of other churches both here in the UK and other parts of the world.  See Ministries without Borders, www.mwb.org.uk which includes churches in Cuba, India and Africa, from where they bring great testimonies of God’s goodness and new believers being added to the kingdom.  Recently, Ministries without Borders launched a programme to send Christians to every country in the world www.mission193.org which has now been completed.

3. What are Life-Groups?
Life-Groups meet weekly in the homes of members.  The aim is that of Acts 2:42 – “They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
Life-Groups are a way to get to know other folks in the church much better rather than a quick chat on a Sunday.
In addition, from time to time, we will engage in community projects in the area in which the groups meet.
If you live near one of the groups, you are encouraged to join and become an active part of God’s work of winning souls for the Kingdom.  There are plans to set up more.  Please speak to Ian, Ife or any of the group leaders. This year a Life-Group will also be running for undergraduates and will meet every Wednesday during term time.  Please see Ian, Chris or Ife should you want to know more.

4. How can I participate in church life at King’s?
We believe that every Christian has been blessed with gifts which they can bring to the group of believers.  You can see details of all our ministries in the website.  Feel free to contact the leaders, Ian or Ife who will tell you more and encourage your participation in Life at King’s Community Church.

5. What if I have just become a Christian?

We have a discipleship programme, including one-on-one and group sessions, which Chris has oversight for..  We sometimes run Alpha courses for those wishing to be Christians, new Christians, or those who just have questions.  We have a “Life at King’s” course which tells you all about King’s, and is excellent for new believers who want to learn more about being a Christian.

6. How do you integrate international students into the church?
Ife heads the work of integrating international students.  Depending on how many we have each session, we may organise regular meetings and other activities.  We aim to introduce international students to the life at King’s, as well as the various leaders of ministries.  We believe that international students need to feel welcome into the church, but we also look forward to their full participation as members of the body of believers.  Please contact Ife or Ian for more details.

7. How about Lancaster life in general?
Lancaster is a small but beautiful city in Northwest England, with lots of opportunities to socialise, shop, work and study.  It is close to important tourist attractions such as the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales and is situated near large cities such as Manchester and Liverpool. It is close to the motorways and is well served by rail and bus networks. Students form a large percentage of the city’s population, so things are designed around you.  The universities have great study environments, with excellent library facilities, computer rooms, networked environments and great academic reputations.  If you need to relax, you can watch movies, eat out in one of the many restaurants, which serve food from all over the world, particularly Japanese, Indian, Chinese, Italian, French and Thai.  There are also many shops which sell everything.  There are even two shops which sell African food and cosmetic products as well as a shop which sells Polish food.

8.  Who do I contact if I have any questions?
Ife has primary responsibility for international students and is able to answer any questions.  Please send him an email at ife@akintunde.idps.co.uk or ring +44(0)7980272589.  You can also speak to Ian or Chris at any time.  The leadership is committed to ensuring that you have a blessed time and enjoy being part of the KCC family.  If you wish to email the church, or ring any of the leadership, please visit the contact page.
